Subject: Milford sound

Hi!
I was planning to go down to milford sound in new zealand but i had a deception. Is it really a magical place? People say its just amazing and its the 24th must see place inn the world. Please reply to me about this. 😕

Hi Abhi.

It's worth remembering that my opinion of Milford Sound is only my opinion, and it doesn't mean that others don't think that it's a magical place (though labelling anything as the '24th must-see place in the world' seems to me to be faintly futile 😕). I visited Milford having just come off two weeks of fantastic walking on the Kepler and Hollyford-Pyke tracks, and after the rugged and untaimed beuauty of the bush, I found it a bit of a let-down.

However, I didn't walk the Milford Track, which people generally rave about, and I didn't take a boat out onto the Sound, which, again, people like. You shouldn't put off visiting Milford just because I wasn't impressed; you should go yourself and make up your own mind. Just be aware that if you've just spent two weeks roughing it in the New Zealand bush, it might not be as amazing as if you've just flown in from full-time work...
